Job Description
Communications Manager Location: Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand Overview Stratford District Council is recruiting for a Communications Manager to lead the way we tell our story and connect with our community. In this role, you will shape and deliver the Council's communications across all channels, from media and digital platforms to community engagement and internal communications. Key Responsibilities Shape and deliver Council communications across all channels. Set the strategic direction for communication, ensuring messaging is clear and consistent. Help the community understand what the Council does, why it matters, and its value delivered. Ensure customer service messaging and processes support trust, accessibility and effective first contact resolution. Advise senior leaders, navigate complex issues, and translate detailed or technical information into clear messages for diverse audiences. Manage media relationships and develop campaigns using digital and social channels. Engage with the community, Mana Whenua and incorporate Te Ao Māori values and te reo Māori into communications. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or a related field. Strong experience leading communications functions, developing messaging and campaigns. Experience managing media relationships and using digital and social channels. Ability to advise senior leaders and navigate complex issues. Proficiency in translating technical information to clear public messages. Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and willingness to incorporate Te Ao Māori values and te reo Māori.
