Job Description
Waikato Hospital, Hamilton — 12‑Months Fixed Term, Full Time Specialists with current APC in the Emergency Medicine Scope of Practice (or about to qualify). Rostered shifts between 08:00 and 02:00 with occasional on‑call between 02:00 and 08:00. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Waikato Hospital. In this position you will play a key role in providing Emergency Medicine to about 90,000 people per year (220‑250 a day). Our ED is the primary Emergency Medicine service for about 300,000 people based in Hamilton and the surrounding district, secondary for the entire Waikato DHB region (500,000 people), and a tertiary centre for the Te Manawa Taki region (1million people). Using your excellent leadership skills while on the floor with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for oversight of about 35 junior staff (in total) from 6‑12 per shift, including on‑floor education, and have the opportunity to participate further in the formal teaching program as desired. About You You will be a qualified Emergency Physician Specialist with a current APC in the MCNZ Emergency Medicine Scope of Practice (or about to qualify). You will have strong relationship‑management skills and be able to build rapport inside and outside the department.
