About the Role BCITO is seeking an exceptional General Manager Strategy & Innovation to join the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the strategic engine room, shaping BCITO’s future direction and ensuring the organisation remains informed, connected, and ahead of the game. You will translate complex information into clear strategic direction, work closely with the Board and Executive Leadership Team, and build influential relationships across industry, government, and the vocational education sector. Equally comfortable in the boardroom, on a construction site, or engaging with policymakers, you will bring a unique ability to see opportunities, navigate complexity, and deliver outcomes. As General Manager Strategy & Innovation, you will be a key strategic adviser to the Chief Executive, Board and Executive Leadership Team, providing the insight, intelligence and strategic leadership that enables BCITO to achieve its ambitious goals. Your portfolio will include: Strategy, planning and organisational performance Insights, research and intelligence Thought leadership, advocacy and policy engagement Strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement Marketing, brand and communications Governance and Board reporting People leadership Contributing to the ELT and organisational leadership About You Substantial senior leadership experience with a strong strategic mindset Proven experience developing and executing strategy that delivers measurable results Outstanding ability to turn data, research and stakeholder insights into compelling direction and action Strong influencing skills with the credibility to engage effectively with Boards, government agencies, industry, employers, learners and partners Experience leading high-performing teams across strategy, insights, engagement, marketing or related functions A collaborative leadership style and commitment to collective success A genuine interest in skills, education, workforce development and the future of New Zealand’s construction industry If you are energised by shaping the future, influencing at a system level, and making a lasting impact on New Zealand’s workforce and economy, please apply now or reach out for a confidential conversation.
