About the Team Our Application Services team in our award‑winning ICT division helps ensure that electricity is delivered to all New Zealanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by maintaining and evolving complex critical IT systems. We are rapidly changing, using new technologies to engineer modern web and mobile applications, intelligent AI/ML embedded automation to streamline workflows and functions, adopting open‑source software and DevOps methodologies to accelerate product delivery. About the Opportunity As a senior member of our team, you’ll provide Solution Architecture and technical leadership to project delivery of IT solutions to business problems. Your focus will be on developing and enhancing custom solutions using modern technologies, open‑source software and reusable frameworks. As a Solution Architect you will lead the selection, evaluation and implementation of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions to supplement internally developed functionality. You will support Principal Architect roles in strategy, architecture and delivery, creating and maintaining the Transpower ICT Portfolio Plans and Roadmaps. Information Services and Technology (IST) Solution Architectures enable fit‑for‑purpose IST information and technology solutions to be acquired, built and operated to meet business requirements economically. Responsibilities Lead the technical delivery of architecturally significant and complex projects, ensuring end‑to‑end ownership of technical solutions. Drive technology and innovative business solutions to deliver great enterprise outcomes. Work across multiple projects while leading individual projects. Design and evaluate solution architecture, integration, platform, security, network and infrastructure components. Qualifications Significant experience in solution architecture, design, development and integration of enterprise‑scale applications Hands‑on development experience with modern technologies Experience and understanding of application, data, integration, platform, security, network and infrastructure architectures and technologies Experience in options analysis and selection through a commercial procurement exercise (RFI/RFPs), including implementing and handling customisation of commercial‑off‑the‑shelf solutions Experience in DevOps environments and designing for operations Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment and provide assistance where needed Benefits Employee wellbeing is prioritised with a range of health and wellness benefits.
