Job Description

What’s the role about? We are seeking a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) Claims Officer to join our team on a permanent basis, based in our central Auckland offices. This role assists policy holders, dealers, and repairers with policy coverage queries and claim lodgements, driving customer satisfaction. The role utilises automotive technical expertise to diagnose and interpret mechanical failures, validate repair scope and costs and negotiate outcomes with repairers. The successful applicant must have an Automotive Trade Certificate. Responsibilities Register, assess and process all insurance claims assigned to you. Make decisions or recommend approvals/declines of claims. Follow all processes, guidelines and act within delegated authority. Ensure all documentation is up‑to‑date, accurate and correctly stored. Build strong relationships with dealer and repair networks. Resolve customer, repairer and dealer complaints and/or objections. Respond to queries about policy coverage, the claims process and information requests. Work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with others and sharing knowledge and skills to achieve team goals and objectives. Qualifications Automotive Trade Certificate (required). Experience handling and making claim decisions (desired). Technology savvy and quick to learn new systems. Proactive attitude and willingness to learn; great team player. Great customer service skills, ability to handle disputes professionally. Ability to meet service levels and individual KPI’s; prioritise and multi‑task effectively. Decision making skills and problem‑solving ability. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Benefits Development programs and study grants and support for higher education.
