Job Description
IT Support Lead (Media & Production Technology) – Warner Bros. Discovery, Auckland, NZ The IT Support Lead is responsible for the day‑to‑day management, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s technology environment. As the primary technology resource for the New Zealand business, the role provides end‑user support, manages infrastructure and storage systems, oversees technology vendors, contributes to technology planning and ensures systems remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose. The role supports production, post‑production and corporate teams while working closely with international technology colleagues to align local operations with global standards and initiatives. Key Responsibilities Provide responsive and professional IT support to all users, including hardware, software, networking and application issues. Manage user onboarding, off‑boarding and access management; provision and maintain end‑user devices. Maintain documentation, knowledge articles and support procedures; promote excellent customer service and user experience. Administer Microsoft 365 and associated cloud services; manage Windows and macOS environments. Manage server infrastructure and virtualised environments; maintain networking infrastructure including switches, wireless networks and internet connectivity. Coordinate software deployments, upgrades and patch management; monitor system performance, availability and reliability. Manage shared storage platforms; administer backup platforms and data protection solutions; develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity processes. Lead hardware refresh and lifecycle planning activities. Provide first‑line support for editors, producers and production teams; support Avid NEXIS, Avid Media Composer and other editing environments; liaise with specialist vendors and engineers. Support AWS cloud infrastructure and associated services; manage hybrid cloud and on‑premises technology environments; work with international teams on cloud‑hosted systems. Act as primary contact for local technology vendors and service providers; manage procurement and technology asset lifecycle processes; coordinate renewals and upgrades. Contribute to technology planning and roadmap initiatives; identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Lead cybersecurity initiatives, identity and access management, endpoint security, vulnerability management, incident response and security investigations; promote security awareness across the business. Ensure compliance with company technology policies and standards. Skills & Experience Essential Minimum 3+ years experience in systems administration, infrastructure support or a similar IT role. Strong understanding of bandwidth and redundancy requirements in post‑production; ability to build or recommend post‑production high‑performance NAS, near‑line and archive class storage. Knowledge of LTO and cloud archiving processes. Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience. Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments. Knowledge of networking, storage and infrastructure technologies. Experience working with external vendors and service providers. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical users. Strong organisational and time‑management skills. Desirable Experience in television, broadcast, media or post‑production environments. Experience supporting Avid NEXIS, Avid Media Composer or similar platforms. AWS cloud experience. Experience with post‑production technology / tools. Experience with PowerShell or automation tools. Knowledge of broadcast formats, codecs and media workflows.
