The Opportunity This is far more than a traditional HR management role. You will lead a team of People and Capability professionals while partnering closely with the Executive Director, General Manager Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to shape organisational strategy, culture and capability. You will provide both strategic leadership and operational excellence across the full employee lifecycle while driving initiatives that strengthen organisational performance and employee engagement. Key Responsibilities As Manager People and Capability you will: Lead and develop a high‑performing People & Capability team Provide strategic HR advice to the Executive and Senior Leadership Team Drive organisational development and workforce planning initiatives Lead recruitment, remuneration and job evaluation programmes Provide expert employment relations advice and support Champion leadership development and succession planning Oversee payroll governance and people systems Lead employee engagement, wellbeing and organisational culture initiatives Ensure compliance with employment legislation and Health & Safety requirements Support the integration of Te Ao Māori perspectives and organisational cultural capability Identify, manage and elevate organisational people‑related risks while contributing to organisational governance and reporting. About You You are an experienced People and Capability leader who enjoys operating strategically while remaining connected to operational delivery. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline At least seven years' senior HR leadership experience Proven experience leading and developing teams Strong organisational development and change management capability Extensive Employment Relations knowledge Experience partnering with executive leaders Strong coaching and influencing skills Experience managing remuneration, workforce planning and organisational design Excellent commercial judgement and decision‑making capability Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and building culturally responsive workplaces.
