About the Role We are seeking a Senior Automation Test Engineer who will play a pivotal part in driving the capability of our quality function, working collaboratively to maintain, optimise, and scale our existing automation suites and deployment pipelines. Operating within a modern tech stack, you will champion testing best practices, build reusable components, and contribute directly to seamless enterprise‑level delivery. You will identify and implement technological improvements that increase testing efficiency and consistency. Wellington based, contract until June 2027, immediate/short notice. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and optimise robust automated test frameworks to accelerate productivity and coverage. Maintain and improve existing UI and API automation suites using Java and Karate. Collaborate with developers to embed automated test processes within GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines. Create reusable automation functions to ensure highly maintainable, scalable, and robust test scripts. Investigate and evaluate new tools and techniques to drive continuous quality improvements. Review product requirements to design automated test cases and ensure full requirement traceability. Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience building and maintaining UI automation frameworks using Java and Selenium. Proven expertise in API automation testing, ideally utilising Karate or similar tools. Hands‑on experience implementing and refining workflows within GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines. Deep understanding of test strategies, design patterns, and automation framework architecture. Excellent collaboration skills to champion code health, testability, and best practices with developers. Demonstrated ability to automate complex test scenarios, data verification, and reporting processes. Education: Bachelor Degree.
