Location Kenepuru Hospital, Porirua Service Kenepuru Accident & Medical Clinic (KAMC) Contract Permanent, Full time/part time Salary As per ASMS SECA About the role We have an exciting opportunity for an Urgent Care Fellow to join our busy and thriving Accident and Medical Clinic based at Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua. The clinic operates 24/7 to provide urgent care services to the Porirua community. This is a permanent, salaried position that includes the following benefits: Annual salary step progression as per the SECA Full reimbursement of APC, College membership fees and indemnity insurance 6 weeks paid annual leave Generous sick leave provisions, long service leave and sabbatical leave 10 days paid CME leave and a $16,000 (GST exclusive) CME allowance per year Superannuation matched up to 6% of the employee’s contribution Paid weekly non-clinical time (approximately 20% of total contracted hours) This role includes day and evening shifts over weekdays and weekends. There is no requirement to work night shifts. The position is 32‑40 hours per week, with part‑time work with fewer hours also considered. About the Team, Service and Location Our team is close‑knit, comprising medical, nursing and administration staff to support our 24/7 roster. The doctor roster includes Urgent Care SMOs employed by the department, contracting doctors and local GPs. The nursing team includes two Nurse Practitioners, led by a Charge Nurse Manager for the department and a Practice Administrator. The clinic supports the northern corridor of the Capital Coast catchment area, particularly the Porirua community. We focus on serving the local community, helping avoid ED presentations where clinically appropriate and providing after‑hours medical care where needed. The clinic utilises on‑site laboratory and radiology facilities (including CT for limited indications), POCUS, observation space and an on‑site urgent care‑led fracture clinic. Capital Coast and Hutt Valley district is centrally located in Wellington and employs over 6,000 full‑time equivalent staff, making it one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu. About You Vocationally registered in Urgent Care with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) Senior Urgent Care registrars nearing fellowship completion will also be considered FRNZCUC or equivalent qualification and ability to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ Experience working for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and familiarity with the Equity Work Programme Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams Ability to provide consistently high standards of medical care Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for all New Zealanders and upholds equal employment opportunity obligations.
