Job Description
Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher Due to roll growth in our outreach services, Mt Richmond Specialist School is seeking an experienced teacher who is skilled in working with students with Ongoing Resource Scheme (ORS) funding across mainstream schools. The Specialist Teacher Outreach Service (STOS) works as part of the student’s support team, which includes their class teachers, MOE Special Education staff, support staff and family/whanau. The role may encompass a range of activities, including: Teaching, assessing and developing programmes Monitoring progress and next steps Modelling, supporting teachers and support staff Contributing to IEPs, whanau meetings Student reports The successful candidate will have the following: Current NZ teacher registration Expertise in specialist education: Deep knowledge of New Zealand Curriculum/expanded New Zealand Curriculum and proven ability to adapt it for learners with intellectual disabilities, physical needs, and/or complex behaviours Proven leadership: Building capacity of teaching staff and specialists. Experience working with special needs students with moderate to severe intellectual and multiple disabilities (ORS funded) Ability to establish collaborative relationships with staff in Mt Richmond School and the mainstream school, sharing ideas and innovative practice Excellent interpersonal skills A clean, full NZ Driver’s License We will only consider candidates who have the right to work in New Zealand. Terms and Conditions The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the current Primary Teachers Collective Agreement (PTCA). The base salary range for trained and registered teachers is dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. An individual’s actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
