Job Description
Environmental Manager – Pukeuri Plant We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join our Leadership Team at our Pukeuri Plant. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for environmental compliance, sustainability, environmental performance and leadership of our Plant Services team. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will provide both strategic and operational leadership to ensure the site continues to meet its environmental obligations while driving best practice and continuous improvement across the operation. The role works closely with operational leaders, regulatory authorities, consultants and external stakeholders to protect environmental performance, maintain compliance and shape the site’s sustainability future. Key Responsibilities Leading environmental compliance and ensuring adherence to resource consents, environmental legislation and regulatory requirements. Managing and continuously improving the site's Environmental Management System and environmental monitoring programmes. Partnering with operational teams to drive sustainability initiatives, resource efficiency and environmental performance improvements. Providing expert environmental advice and support to plant leadership, project teams and key stakeholders. Leading incident investigations, corrective actions and environmental risk management activities. Building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, consultants and external agencies. Leading and developing the Plant Services team while fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of New Zealand environmental legislation and regulatory compliance. Experience managing environmental programmes and systems within a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural or highly regulated environment. Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop and influence others. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. Strong analytical, planning and problem‑solving capabilities. Experience with wastewater treatment, effluent management, receiving water quality monitoring or food processing environments will be highly regarded.
