This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in the Wellington office working with high‑calibre clients on some of the region's most significant and complex projects. About the Role As an Associate Quantity Surveyor, you will take the lead in managing and delivering projects across multiple sectors, while supporting the continued growth and capability of the Wellington team. Your role will encompass full project lifecycle involvement from feasibility and estimating to cost planning, procurement, financial management, and final account reporting. You will apply strong financial and commercial acumen to deliver exceptional value for clients and maintain trusted relationships within the industry. Key Responsibilities Prepare master plans, feasibility budgets, and cost estimates Provide detailed cost checking, value engineering, and cost management advice Lead tender evaluations, contract negotiations, and procurement strategies Manage cost reporting, forecasting, and financial performance Evaluate variations, prepare claims, and settle final accounts Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors Identify and develop new business opportunities Contribute to benchmarking, innovation, and continuous improvement Mentor and develop junior quantity surveying staff About You 10 years experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Consulting or PQS environment Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Strong proficiency with cost planning and estimating software (CostX preferred) Proven experience managing large and complex projects Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Strong commercial, analytical, and leadership capabilityDemonstrated ability to win work and maintain client relationships Professional membership with NZIQS or RICS (or working towards) What's on Offer Competitive salary package, annual performance bonus, and a range of employee benefits including Southern Cross medical insurance, paid professional memberships, and the choice of a car park or public transport card Flexible, hybrid working options supporting a balanced and sustainable work approach Modern, central Wellington office surrounded by a professional, collaborative team that values excellence and wellbeing Confidential enquiries are welcome.
