Permanent, full‑time position available. Position will be based at our Invercargill site. We offer a competitive remuneration package starting at $68,371 to $75,501, depending on experience. Mō te tūnga | About the role Allied Support Workers work under the direction and oversight of qualified Social Workers and supervisors, contributing to positive outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau. This is a non‑regulated role that does not undertake social work activities or have a caseload. The position supports Social Workers with home visits, administration, and transportation of tamariki and rangatahi. Day‑to‑day responsibilities Provide on‑demand support across a site based on the team’s operating needs. Assist social workers with entering case notes and other information into CYRAS and other information systems. Transport tamariki and rangatahi safely to appointments, school, sports and other locations. Assist with the set‑up and administration of Family Group Conferences (FGC). Support and assist social workers in the care of tamariki and rangatahi when out of school or waiting for placements. Makes necessary administrative arrangements for tamariki in placement and/or programme transition. Support tamariki and rangatahi at school through settling in or returning after periods away. Conduct supervised access/visitation by driving clients, supervising contact and writing up contact notes. Some weekends and after‑hours work is required. Foster cooperative working relations with internal colleagues, external partners and stakeholders. Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring Experience Community experience assisting or supporting people in need. Experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika cultures. Experience dealing with emotional situations and being empathic to people’s challenges and stresses. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with peers and other stakeholders. Skills Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanour in emotionally complex situations and handle stress. Understanding and appreciation of cross‑cultural practices; knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ culture. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Ability to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice. Intermediate competence with Microsoft Suite. Qualifications / Licence A recognised Social Services qualification is desirable. A clean, current full driver’s licence is essential, and willingness to drive Ministry vehicles. Historic convictions may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
