Overview We're hiring: Assistant Accountant | Auckland, NZ (Hybrid) Walshe Group is a specialist sales, marketing and business services organisation supporting leading airlines, tourism boards, destinations and travel businesses throughout Australia and New Zealand. Beyond traditional representation, we provide a broad range of commercial services including sales, marketing, public relations, digital marketing, finance, payroll and business support. Our finance team plays an integral role in both supporting the Group's internal operations and delivering outsourced finance services to a portfolio of clients across the travel and tourism sector. The Walshe Group is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join our Auckland finance team, reporting to our Finance Manager. This isn\'t a typical transactional accounting role. You\'ll work across our Australian and New Zealand entities on month-end close, reconciliations and reporting, while also gaining exposure to the outsourced support we deliver to our airline, tourism and travel clients — a real multi-entity, client-facing experience for someone early in their career. No two days are quite the same. While accounting will always be your primary focus, you\'ll also have opportunities to contribute to projects, systems improvements and broader business initiatives as part of our collaborative SME environment. Success in this position comes from combining strong accounting fundamentals with curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to understand how finance supports the broader business and our clients. Responsibilities Contribute to month-end close, reconciliations and reporting across Australian and New Zealand entities. Support multi-entity, client-facing outsourced finance work for airline, tourism and travel clients. Contribute to projects, systems improvements and broader business initiatives as part of a collaborative SME environment. Apply strong accounting fundamentals with curiosity and adaptability to understand how finance supports the business and clients. Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, Commerce or a related discipline 2–4 years\' experience in an accounting or assistant accountant role Solid grasp of journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations Strong Excel skills and experience with an ERP or cloud accounting system Working towards, or planning to start, CA ANZ or CPA — we support this with study leave and financial assistance Japanese language skills are an advantage, given our airline and Japan Inbound Tourism client base Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and client finance teams Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail Benefits Collaborative SME that values curiosity, initiative and ownership Broad exposure beyond a standard assistant accountant role, with a clear path toward Senior Accountant Modern cloud finance systems (Sage Intacct) Hybrid working following successful completion of probation The chance to work alongside leading airline, tourism and travel brands across Australia and New Zealand If you\'re an early-career accountant looking to build strong commercial foundations in a fast-moving, people-first business, we\'d love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
