Job Details Date advertised: 21 Jun 2026 Job Type: Fixed Term Location: Christchurch, NZ About this role Regional Leadership Advisor Commencing 28th January 2027 Fixed‑term, full‑time role Canterbury Region We are looking for experienced school principals (current or recent) to support and coach other principals across primary and secondary sectors in Canterbury. The role involves face‑to‑face and remote support, facilitation of collaboration and clusters, and provision of training, coaching and strategic guidance to improve leadership capability. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group coaching to principals on challenges and the implementation of education priorities. Deliver support through one‑to‑one sessions, clusters, and larger group seminars, presentations and workshops. Facilitate collaboration among principals/tumuaki, enabling sharing of best practice and expertise across the local and national network. Support innovative approaches to curriculum design, teaching and learning. Act as a trusted advisor, addressing issues promptly and effectively. Work closely with regional colleagues, reporting to a Director of Education and collaborating with the national network of leadership advisors. Qualifications & Requirements Current or recently retired school Principal within the last 12–24 months. Experience leading primary and secondary schools, with the ability to work across both sectors. Recognised mana and status in the sector, with strong relational skills and integrity in leadership. Proven success in school management, strategic and instructional leadership. Demonstrated ability to coach and support leaders across the education sector.
