Driver Operator - Class 4/5

Experienced Class 4/ 5 civil Driver Operator wanted to keep plant moving and projects delivering on a key local contract in Manawatu-Whanganui. At Downer we plan, create and sustain. Te Kowhiringa | The Opportunity Join Downer and play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure across our Whanganui network. We're looking for a motivated and skilled Driver/Operator to join our team. This is a hands‑on role where you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining plant and equipment safely and efficiently, while contributing to high‑quality outcomes across our works programme. No two days are the same - you'll be working as part of a close‑knit crew, supporting a range of civil construction and maintenance activities while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met. Your Day to Day will include: Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently in line with company standards Carry out pre‑start checks and identify/report hazards to maintain a safe work environment Work as part of a crew to deliver civil construction and maintenance activities Ensure plant is operated with care for the environment, minimising emissions and waste Maintain equipment and report faults to support reliable performance Assist with routine servicing and general upkeep of plant and equipment Complete timesheets, logbooks, and other required documentation accurately and on time Keep work areas, plant, and equipment clean, safe, and secure at all times Support team members and contribute to a positive, productive crew culture Follow all Zero Harm, environmental, and quality procedures Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills You're a reliable team player who takes pride in your work and has a strong focus on safety and quality.
