Opportunity This is a permanent, full-time role 44 hours per week (42.5 office hours and 1.5 after‑hours on average). The position offers great variety and the chance to work with several specialists both internally and externally, maintaining excellent working relationships. No two days are ever the same; you will see the full spectrum of psychiatry from enduring mental illness through to trauma, grief and distress. You will work with supportive and caring colleagues within a close‑knit team. Key Responsibilities Provide quality clinical services to older people within Te Whatu Ora Waikato boundaries. As a clinical expert, ensure that the appropriate and current knowledge, skills, and attitudes in psychiatry are applied to clinical situations and team decision‑making. Participate in clinical partnership to ensure that tāngata whaiora and their whānau receive integrated, appropriate, effective, and efficient assessment and care. About You / Qualifications A Psychiatrist who is vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. A versatile and flexible clinician with a passion for working as part of a team. A clinician excited about and willing to contribute to service enhancement. About Our Service The Mental Health and Addictions Service (MHSOP) is a secondary specialist service for people over 65 living in the Waikato District. It provides integrated care through a community team and an inpatient unit, working closely with aged care facilities. The service is family‑and‑whānau inclusive.
