Senior Data Engineer

Our client is looking for a skilled Data Engineer to support the design, development, and management of modern data systems and digital archive platforms. This role combines strong technical engineering capability with an understanding of data governance, preservation, and structured information management. You will work across complex datasets and systems, helping ensure data is accessible, secure, and valuable for long term use. What You’ll Do Design and Build Data Solutions Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems Work with modern cloud technologies to process and manage data Support the evolution of robust and efficient data architecture Manage Data and Digital Archives Support digital repositories and archival platforms Apply archival theory, preservation principles, and records management practices Ensure data is structured, searchable, and governed effectively Maintain Quality and Governance Apply metadata standards and maintain business glossaries Support data governance including privacy, copyright, and security practices Ensure high levels of data quality, integrity, and consistency What You’ll Bring Essential Strong experience with MongoDB, Python, AWS Step Functions, and AWS Lambda Understanding of archival theory, digital preservation, and records management Experience with digital repositories and archival management systems Experience working with search platforms for digital archives Knowledge of metadata standards and business glossary frameworks Understanding of data governance, privacy, copyright, and information security Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with complex data structures High attention to detail and strong organisational ability Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams Desirable Experience coaching and mentoring others Additional experience with MongoDB and Python in complex environments Kia ora, Comspek and our clients fully support and encourage diverse hiring and inclusive recruitment processes.
