Job Description

The Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service provides specialised care and support for patients who have a life limiting illness using a multidisciplinary approach. Care is centred on the needs of patients and their families/whānau and embraces the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual elements of wellbeing - tinana, whanau, hinengaro and wairua – and aims to enhance quality of life. We are seeking a General Practitioner (GP) with an interest in specialist palliative care to work in the Nurse Maude Hospice Inpatient Unit as a medical officer on a casual basis starting November 2026. As part of this casual role, the successful candidate will be required to participate in the on-call roster, including one weekend (from Friday evening to Monday morning) approximately every five to six weeks. There may also be the opportunity or requirement to provide weeknight on‑call cover and additional on‑call cover from time to time to support operational needs.
