About the role The purpose of this position is to support Council staff to comply with the Council's data and information management procedures, governance and relevant legislation. This requires providing technology solutions, advice and guidance for data management and governance practices across the organisation. Responsibilities / Requirements The Data Specialist will provide support to the business units and teams within Council by improving, enhancing and automating data processes to meet the business' data requirements and increase data quality standards. You will also be responsible for: Creating and analysing views, triggers, and stored procedures using SQL programming language from data sourced from multiple corporate systems Identifying, understanding requirements and automating data processes using appropriate tooling, for example; Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), SQL and Robotics Process Automation (RPA) Designing relational databases and data models using SQL and PowerDesigner Supporting Council Information Stewards to troubleshoot and correct data problems by using Data Management tools Interfacing with business and functional analysts to ensure the proper integration of business data processes and procedures to information technology Assisting in defining technical requirements for on-going systems maintenance and future functionality Providing technical support to users on matters related to data structure, data management, SQL scripts developed to perform data management functions About you Skills To be successful in this position, you will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a related role which includes experience working with the following (or similar) applications and skills: SQL, FME (Feature Manipulation Engine), RPA (Robotic Process Automation), UiPath, Power Platform, GIS Tools (ESRI), Asset Management Systems (SAP), CASE Tools (PowerDesigner) Bachelor's level qualification in computer science, information science, or related field Example: Tertiary qualification at Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree level in relevant field or relevant experience to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge. At least two years in a digital corporate environment. Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship development. An all-in attitude. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
