Fresh Meats NZ Ltd is a boutique Napier-based lamb processor, proudly operating year-round to produce premium meat products for both the domestic and export markets. We’re looking for a qualified and motivated Maintenance Fitter to join our dedicated team. You’ll work closely with the Plant Engineer and be hands‑on with day‑to‑day maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects across our modern processing facility. What You’ll Be Doing Performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on plant machinery and equipment. Ensuring all mechanical systems run efficiently to minimise downtime and maximise productivity. Supporting ongoing projects and maintenance upgrades as part of a small, close‑knit engineering team. Occasionally working weekends or public holidays when required to support continuous operations. What You’ll Bring A relevant trade qualification and/or the necessary certifications. 3+ years’ experience in machinery maintenance or mechanical fitting. Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills with a practical, hands‑on approach. Experience or familiarity with refrigeration, boilers, and electrical systems. The ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics. A commitment to health, safety, and hygiene standards, and the ability to work within strict compliance frameworks. Work on a rotating roster, alternating between early and day shifts (5.00 a.m.–1.30 p.m. and 7.00 a.m.–3.30 p.m.) Preference will be given to those with experience in food processing or manufacturing environments.
