He Ara Hou – The Opportunity As one of our valued kaimahi steps into a new role within the organisation, an opportunity has now opened for a motivated individual to join our Whānau Resilience team in Whakatāne. In this full-time permanent role, you will work alongside iwi, community providers, and government agencies to ensure whānau are well-supported to achieve positive health, education, and social outcomes for their tamariki. As a Family Start Kaitiaki, you will: Deliver an intensive home visiting service to build strong, resilient whānau Develop and implement whānau-led plans grounded in their strengths and aspirations Provide practical parenting guidance and advocate for their needs Ensure the safety and wellbeing of tamariki is always prioritised You’re committed to seeing tamariki thrive, and to strengthening the wellbeing of whānau. You lead with empathy and bring a trauma-informed approach to your mahi. You also bring: A relevant qualification or experience in social work, health, or education The ability to build trust and form strong relationships Confidence working alongside whānau with complex needs Strong communication, organisation, and decision‑making skills An understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi A full, clean driver’s licence and clear Police Vetting Ngā whiwhinga – What we offer Join us in Whakatāne, a coastal town with all the essentials, surrounded by rivers, beaches and native landscapes.
