About the Role The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) engages senior cloud and microservices engineering talent to design, build, and manage enterprise cloud and Linux platforms for the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB). The successful candidate will lead technical strategy, coach the engineering team, and ensure secure, cost‑efficient cloud operations. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise cloud and Linux platforms as the Subject Matter Expertise champion. Coach, mentor, and guide engineers across projects. Engage stakeholders and manage relationships to promote best practice adoption. Qualifications Required: 5+ years experience as an SME in designing, building, and operating cloud and microservices platforms. Strong proficiency in defining and maintaining cloud platform standards, architecture, and governance guardrails. Hands‑on experience with FinOps, cost management, and change‑management practices. Expertise in automation of provisioning, patching, scaling, and routine operational tasks. Deep knowledge of identity and access management best practices and IaC tools such as Terraform. Experience building CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, observability foundations, and security baseline controls. Ability to maintain high‑quality documentation and runbooks.
