Job Description
Health Promotion Advisor (Kaitohu Whakatairanga Hauora) – a permanent, part‑time (0.8 FTE) role based in Marlborough. About the Role As a Health Promotion Advisor you will enable community‑led action using community development approaches, partnering across communities and policy settings, and driving collective action to improve environments for hauora. You will adapt to emerging opportunities, support new ways of working, and contribute to programmes that advance Pae Ora by addressing determinants of health such as housing, transport, and social cohesion. Based in the Community and Whānau Wellbeing team, you will strengthen community capability and voice, influence policy and create supportive environments that enable whānau and communities to thrive. About you You’re a strong relationship builder and facilitator who works confidently across communities, organisations, and systems. You understand public health and the wider determinants of health, use evidence, data, and community insight to inform your work, communicate clearly, adapt to different audiences, and are committed to advancing equity through Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice. You are comfortable navigating complex stakeholder environments, working alongside local government, iwi and hapū, and communities to enable collective action and influence policy and planning. You are proactive, adaptable, and able to lead work that delivers meaningful outcomes. Qualifications Experience in health promotion, community development, or a related field Strong collaboration and facilitation skills with diverse stakeholders Ability to apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice Experience in project delivery and evidence‑informed advice Confidence using digital tools, with a full, clean NZ driver's licence and willingness to travel We welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
