Job Description

Job Description Lead technical delivery, project management, and team development in this Principal Structural Engineer role, contributing to the successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across New Zealand. Apply structural and civil engineering expertise across bridges, highways, roads, utilities, roadside safety barriers, signage, and transport infrastructure while supporting both project outcomes and team capability. Based in Auckland, you will work on complex and high‑profile transport projects including Riverlink, Northland Corridor, Inland Rail, and major level crossing removal programmes. Lead the design and delivery of transportation and structural engineering projects, ensuring outputs meet quality, time, safety, and budget expectations. Manage project resources, delivery programmes, and multidisciplinary coordination across multiple transport projects. Provide technical leadership across roads, highways, bridges, signage, line marking, roadside safety barriers, utilities, and civil design packages. Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, supporting repeat work opportunities and business development. Lead technical teams and provide guidance, mentoring, and professional support to junior engineers and developing team members. Contribute to proposals, technical reports, tender submissions, and project documentation to support project delivery and future opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), New Zealand. Minimum 8–10 years’ design office experience in New Zealand. Strong knowledge of New Zealand Standards and the NZTA Bridge Manual. Proven experience delivering transport infrastructure and bridge design projects within New Zealand. Strong technical expertise in bridge engineering, roads, highways, and multidisciplinary transport projects. Expert user of MIDAS Civil, including non‑linear analysis experience. Familiarity with New Zealand geotechnical conditions including soil liquefaction design considerations. Strong commercial awareness and effective time and project management skills.
