Backend Software Developer

Position Overview Senior Backend Engineer – Full‑time, permanent. Startup in the Fintech/Credit space, greenfield project, located in Takapuna, North Shore. Onsite required. Modern, non‑legacy tech stack. Salary range 130k‑160k NZD per annum plus ESOP. Visa support available for qualified candidates; a valid NZ work visa is required. Key Responsibilities Work directly with the Lead Engineer and Founder on product direction and customer needs. Interact with early users and customers to deeply understand their problems. Mentor the first engineering team as it grows, focusing on senior-level guidance. Hands‑on coding and shipping are central to this role. Qualifications 6–14 years of hands‑on backend development experience in C#/.Net, Java, Ruby, or similar. Willingness to learn and pickup GoLang; prior GoLang experience is an advantage. Experience with Postgres SQL and Kubernetes – required. Strong fundamentals in coding and software engineering principles. Availability all five working days at the North Shore office – required. Good to have: IaC, Terraform, GCP experience (Azure/AWS ok), Gitlab. Exposure to frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Solid background in distributed systems, Kubernetes, and Postgres. At least two years in a fast‑paced team where customer needs were paramount – preferred. Startup mindset: move fast, solve problems, own outcomes. Benefits Competitive salary 130k‑160k NZD per annum.
