Job Description
A well-established, New Zealand-owned hotel in the Auckland Airport Precinct is looking for a passionate and experienced Casual Demi Chef to join its kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified chef who enjoys working across a variety of food service styles, including À La Carte, buffet, café, and conference catering. About the Role: As a Demi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining excellent food safety and kitchen standards. You'll work as part of a professional team, delivering exceptional dining experiences for hotel guests and conference attendees. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook dishes for À La Carte service, buffets, cafés, and conference catering. Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to recipes and presentation standards. Ensure all food is prepared consistently and meets quality expectations. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety. Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen. Monitor stock levels and report shortages to senior chefs. Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly. Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods. What We're Looking For Qualified Chef with 1–3 years' experience in a professional kitchen. Experience preparing À La Carte, buffet, café, and conference catering menus. Passion for creating quality food and delivering an exceptional guest experience. Up-to-date knowledge of current food trends and culinary techniques. Ability to remain calm under pressure and use initiative when required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Excellent understanding of food safety and health & safety requirements. Full New Zealand Driver Licence and reliable transport. Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice check, pre-employment drug test, and all other required pre-employment checks. What's on Offer Casual, part-time position (approximately 10 hours per week ). $28.00 per hour . Flexible shifts across Monday to Sunday, with some shifts starting from 5:00 am .
