Educational Interpreter - Christchurch Enrolled School Provisions

Job Summary We are seeking a permanent, full‑time Educational Interpreter to work with and support our learners and teaching team across our Enrolled School Provisions in Hillmorton, Wharenui and Hagley. The successful applicant will be required to interpret and translate in and around the educational setting to ensure that students can understand, fully participate and achieve. Responsibilities Interpret and translate in and around the educational setting ensuring that the students are able to understand, fully participate and achieve. Ability to adapt to the style of teaching as well as the needs and language level of the learner is essential to this role. Qualifications Approved qualifications in New Zealand Sign Language and interpreter training Previous experience working in educational settings, sign language resource development and translation services – preferred but not essential A current driver’s licence Highly motivated, flexible and capable of managing one’s own workload Understanding and respect of Deaf culture Desire to focus on the needs of learners Flexible and able to adapt to a variety of situations and needs Registered with the Sign Language Interpreters Association of New Zealand is preferred.
