Job Description

Join our team as an HR/Payroll Specialist in this full‑time permanent role, where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely payroll services for the Christchurch Engine Centre while partnering with our Global Enterprise Teams. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by supporting both payroll excellence and broader HR operations during a transformative period as we transition to a global shared services model. In this dynamic role, you'll go beyond payroll processing by driving HR analytics and business analysis, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and providing generalist HR support that enhances the employee experience. What You Will Do Maintain accuracy of payroll system and time and attendance data through accurate and timely data updates meeting payroll processing deadlines. Liaise with and maintain a collaborative working relationship with Global Financial Services (GFS) and Production Leaders to ensure the accuracy of the payroll and time and attendance systems, including actively managing troubleshooting, system updates and corrections through to resolution. Process transactions in relation to superannuation and IRD payments in a timely and accurate manner. Prepare and provide 3rd‑party deductions reports to external parties in a timely and accurate manner. Respond to payroll‑related enquiries and requests and maintain records and information as required for audit requirements. Liaise with HR Third‑Party Support (e.g., Financial Advisor and Superannuation Providers). Provide annual support for collective bargaining, including bargaining rate updates and changes to collective agreements and payroll system updates. Responsible for legislation updates related to payroll. Lead payroll system and process optimisation projects. Ensure accuracy of Enterprise Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and SAP data through accurate and timely data updates. Manage accounts payable for the HR Function and assist with transition to Shared Services. Conduct business analysis to improve and transform payroll and HR processes into a global shared services model working with enterprise systems and teams. Perform HR analytics reporting to enhance HR and payroll service delivery. Support HR function in DAMP (Drug and Alcohol Management Programme) by administering the programme annually and providing reporting analysis to the Policy Owner. Coordinate onsite injury and illness support to the wider business. Support the coordination of new‑hire and exit processes and reporting, including onsite induction programme. Qualifications University degree in commerce, business, human resources or equivalent (desirable). Member of NZPP or holder of the Certificate in Payroll Foundations. NZPPA Certificate in Payroll Calculations. At least 3‑5 years of relevant experience in payroll or HR administration. Working knowledge of NZ employment legislation and the Holidays Act 2003 gained through prior payroll experience. Experience administering payroll for collective bargaining agreements (desirable). Knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise payroll systems. Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and quality in all tasks. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Business analysis or continuous improvement skills with a proven track record of process improvement. Ability to work as part of a small onsite team and as part of international teams partnering for payroll and HR service delivery.
