About the Role The purpose of this position is to provide safe operational anaesthetic and ancillary equipment to Anaesthetists in the operating theatre. You will provide direct clinical assistance to Anaesthetists and Intensivists, maintaining a high standard of patient care. You are part of an integrated operating theatre team committed to ensuring efficient functioning of the operating theatre. This is a part‑time position working 36 hours per week on a rostered basis. About Team/Service/Location The Theatre Department in Kaitaia Hospital provides elective surgery and endoscopy procedures predominantly to people of the Far North and Northland. The department comprises two theatres with eight-day surgery beds and three recovery beds. The Endoscopy Unit has one endoscopy procedure theatre and a four‑bed endoscopy day‑stay unit. Patients are referred by GPs and specialist consultants throughout the Northland District. About you Hold a Certificate/Diploma in Anaesthetic Technology or equivalent and be registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand with a current practising certificate. Have at least 2 years' experience post‑qualification, including paediatric skills. Be able to work in a team with good communication and organisational skills. Demonstrate an ability to practice in a culturally safe manner and have competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth. Have experience in projects or initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
