About the Role We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department (ED) on a fixed‑term parental leave cover. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, delivering safe, effective, and patient‑centred care to a wide range of acute presentations. Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in an acute setting. Deliver high‑quality care in a fast‑paced and often unpredictable environment. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best patient outcomes. Support patients and whānau through urgent and complex health situations. Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and best practice initiatives. Maintain professional standards and ongoing development through PDRP. About the Team/Service/Location Our Emergency Department team provides 24‑hour care for patients across the Tairāwhiti region, delivering timely assessment and treatment for a wide range of presentations. You’ll be part of a high‑performing, supportive team that thrives on teamwork, responsiveness and clinical excellence. The service works closely with inpatient wards, specialist teams and community providers to ensure coordinated care for patients and their whānau. Qualifications A current NZ Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Current eligibility to work in New Zealand. A commitment to ongoing professional development (PDRP). Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. The ability to prioritise and manage workload in a high‑pressure setting. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving health outcomes for Māori.
