Part-time (25 hrs/wk minimum) position About the Ōkārito Plant Project The Ōkārito Plant Project is an innovative community-led initiative that unites local tourism businesses, community members, and landowners to restore and enhance the natural landscapes of South Westland, New Zealand. By fostering community involvement and environmental stewardship, the project aims to improve biodiversity, promote wildlife habitats, and strengthen ecological health across the region. Position Summary The Administrative Assistant will play a pivotal role in advancing the Ōkārito Plant Project’s mission by securing funding, coordinating project activities, and strengthening engagement with members, landowners, and the broader community. This role emphasizes identifying funding opportunities, submitting grant applications, and supporting the administrative and organizational needs of the project. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will serve as a key point of contact between the Project’s members and the Ōkārito Native Plants Trust Board, tracking volunteer involvement, organizing project events, and helping ensure seamless communication. Key Skills and Qualifications Experience in Grant Writing or Fundraising: Prior experience with grant writing or fundraising activities, ideally within environmental or community-focused projects. Strong Administrative Skills: Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, with proficiency in basic office software. Excellent Communication Abilities: Confident in engaging with diverse stakeholders, including landowners, community volunteers, business members, and Board members. Organisational Skills: Ability to organize and track events, volunteer participation, and project activities. Passion for Conservation: A commitment to environmental stewardship, community building, and biodiversity restoration. Additional Information This part-time role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an inspiring conservation project, supporting ecological restoration and strengthening community connections across South Westland.
