Job Description

A busy Palmerston North electrical contracting business is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of their HVAC electrical portfolio. Role You will manage the full electrical scope on commercial heating and ventilating projects – wiring, controls interfaces, instrumentation, and work closely with specialist BMS/Automation and HVAC mechanical contractors. Projects range from $50K to $1.5M+, with four to six running concurrently across a variety of sectors, including education, commercial, defence & industrial. Responsibilities Tender, price, and manage HVAC electrical projects end-to-end Coordinate with controls suppliers (Honeywell, Siemens) and HVAC mechanical contractors Manage project budgets, procurement, variations, and cost control Oversee site delivery and field teams of three to six electricians Complete all commissioning support and handover documentation Ideal Experience Current Electrical Registration (NZ) Experience managing electrical projects in commercial building services or HVAC Strong experience with electrical HVAC – control wiring, instrumentation, sensors, VSDs Ability to interpret functional descriptions and controls specifications Confident coordinating with BMS/controls specialists Strong tendering, cost control, and project close-out skills Proficient in Excel, Word, and Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat Full working rights in New Zealand The Company This is a well-established electrical contracting business based in Palmerston North, with a strong and long-standing presence in the regional market.
