## Health & Safety AdvisorApplylocations: Te Punatime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todaytime left to apply: End Date: August 2, 2026 (25 days left to apply)job requisition id: R26105**Mō te tūranga | About the role**We’re looking for an exceptional **Health & Safety Advisor** to join us on the major project **Takitimu North Link,** based out of our site office in **Te Puna.**Reporting to the H&S Manager, you’ll help turn our Living Safely journey into practical action on the ground. We take the work seriously, not ourselves, and when it counts, we switch on and deliver to a high standard.You will be someone that is keen to be out on site, shoulder to shoulder with our crews, providing hands-on Health & Safety leadership where it matters most. You’ll coach, mentor and support our high-performing civil project teams, helping make sure our people, clients and subcontractor partners go home safe every day.**Project Scope:** The **Takitimu North Link** Stage 1 project will provide a four lane inter-regional connection between the existing SH2 from near Loop Road, Te Puna in the west, to SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road in the east, and includes an on-ramp from Fifteenth Avenue to the SH29 Takitimu Drive Toll Road. The new 6.8km long four lane highway will bypass Te Puna and Bethlehem townships, improving the efficiency and safety of the strategic network, and will support growth in the Minden area.This major infrastructure project, currently in construction, is a Road of National Significance and contributes to building a transport network that enables people and freight to move around efficiently, quickly, and safely. The project involves 3 million cubic metres of earthworks as well as the construction of 10 bridges, 19 culverts, 8 stream diversions and 7 wetlands.**Fulton Hogan** is constructing the project in a joint venture with HEB Construction, continuing a long and successful partnership on large projects in the Bay of Plenty.**Key role responsibilities*** Champion a positive, open safety culture where people feel confident to speak up, share ideas and look out for one another.* Be a visible, confident and hands-on Health & Safety presence on site, working closely with frontline teams, subcontractor partners and clients.* Lead risk assessments, safety audits and site inspections, together with the project leadership team - formulate and mutually agree on appropriate corrective actions, and ensure actions are followed through and closed out within agreed timeframes.* Lead and support incident investigations with a clear, practical focus on root cause and meaningful corrective action.* Deliver engaging toolbox talks, inductions and training that build confidence, capability and safer everyday habits.* Drive consistent use of Health & Safety systems, plans, policies and initiatives across the projects you support.* Support operational leaders to take real ownership of Health & Safety and lift performance against key safety measures.* Be proactive and capable with monitoring and analysing H&S data, and be able to collate, present and communicate relevant data to leadership groups.* Build strong, trusted relationships that help influence better conversations, better decisions and safer ways of working.* Keep Health & Safety records and documentation accurate, up to date and aligned with legal and company requirements.* Stay across industry developments and regulatory change, bringing fresh thinking and practical ideas to improve site safety.This is a role that requires strong and credible safety leadership with a number of different day-to-day responsibilities so you must have the ability to manage multiple tasks, working in both a re-active and pro-active environment.**We’re looking for someone with*** Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or equivalent* Have 5+ years’ **experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role preferably within a contracting and construction** environments.* Hold a class 1 NZ full driver’s licence* Have hands-on experience with incident investigation, risk management, and safety audits* Be a strong, effective communicator, confident and able to influence and attract engagement* Solid knowledge of applicable acts, standards and regulations relating to Health & Safety compliance in civil construction activities.* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust and respect with a diverse workforce at all levels.* Advanced skills such as conflict resolution, negotiation & change management.* Ability to gather and analyse data, research, compile information and prepare reports* Awareness of Safety II and HOP principles**Ko wai mātou | About us**At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is about more than what we build.
