Job Description
Role Overview We currently have a vacancy for a registered nurse to join our District Nursing Service. The position covers both rural and urban bases within the Hamilton and Rural Family Health team, predominantly in the Hamilton area. It is a 7‑day a week service with hours between 8am–5pm, and the successful applicant will be required to work rostered duties, including weekends and some on‑call. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive, patient‑focused, professional and holistic nursing services in community settings. Perform advanced assessment, management, support and education for wound management, compression therapy, IV management, palliative/end‑of‑life care, continence assessment, catheter management and ostomy management. Assess for acute personal care and home help, support home oxygen/respiratory patients, and liaison/referrals with other health professionals. Work autonomously and adapt to dynamic, rural and urban environments. Qualifications & Experience Current New Zealand registered nurse practising certificate. Full current NZ driver’s licence with no restrictions. Minimum of three years’ experience as a registered nurse. Ability to work effectively within a team and autonomously. Good assessment skills and time management. Sensitivity to cultural aspects and ability to apply Treaty of Waitangi principles to practice. Previous district nursing experience and/or advanced knowledge in wound management and palliative care will be advantageous.
