Job Description
Early Intervention Teacher – Christchurch Office Help shape the future of education in NewZealand. We work to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes. Role Overview As an Early Intervention Teacher, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by providing high‑quality learning support in line with the Ministry's practice framework, HePikorua guiding principles, strands, and goals of TeWhariki: Early Childhood Curriculum, and TeWhariki a teKohangaReo. Key Responsibilities Build and strengthen the capability of those best placed to support children's learning such as parents, teachers and whānau/families. Understand families' needs, collaboratively plan, support, and monitor the implementation of intervention plans. Support transition points in the child's learning pathway, such as transition into early childhood education and to school as required. Work as part of a trans‑disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex. Salary Salary range: $69,966 – $106,016 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. Qualifications Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and be a fully registered teacher. Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or the ability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position. A few years of teaching experience and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour. An understanding of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for daily functioning in family life and for teaching and learning in the context of early childhood and family homes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with ākonga/learners, whānau/families and kaiako/teachers across a diverse range of settings. The ability to understand and apply the principles of TeTiritioWaitangi and tangatawhenua‑tanga. A full driver’s licence. The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
