Specialist Teacher Full time, Permanent Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts Te Kura Pūkenga o Rotorua (Rotorua Specialist School) is a progressive and inclusive specialist school. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated teacher to join our amazing team. This is a permanent, full-time position working with students aged 5–21 years who have high and complex learning support needs. We are spread across our base site and 10 satellite classes across Rotorua. We are looking for someone who: Has a passion for working with students with diverse learning, communication, sensory, physical, and behavioural needs. Builds strong, positive relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues. Is flexible, resilient, and able to adapt programmes to meet individual learning needs. Has strong behaviour support and classroom management skills. Values inclusive education and culturally responsive practice. Works collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Has a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and strengthening outcomes for Māori learners. Is willing to participate fully in school life, including community-based learning opportunities. Key requirements A current New Zealand Teaching Council practising certificate. The legal right to work in New Zealand. Please note that we are only considering applicants who hold New Zealand teacher registration and either New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with full work rights. Experience in specialist education or a willingness to undertake professional learning and development in this area. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
