Job Description

Location Hutt Hospital, New Zealand. Contract: Permanent, 1.0 FTE. Monday to Friday 07:30 to 16:00 hours. About the Role Reporting to the Locality Lead, Hutt Valley Crisis Resolution Service, the Clinical Day Coordinator manages daily activities and clinical outcomes for the service. This includes attending and facilitating daily multidisciplinary team meetings, managing activity and flow through the service (internal transfers of care and wait‑times), and ensuring that the caseload is processed by clinicians. Responsibilities Attend and facilitate daily multidisciplinary team meetings. Manage activity and flow, specifically internal transfers of care and waiting times. Ensure the caseload is processed and daily tasks are completed by clinicians. Provide culturally appropriate, brief and intensive multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for patients and families experiencing acute mental distress. Deliver an enhanced, targeted Emergency Department (ED) response and collaborate with other agencies such as the Co‑response Team, ED Mental Health Team, and Mental Health Acute Care Support (MHACS). Ensure rapid crisis response and referral/warm hand‑over to other community services. Ensure statutory obligations under the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992 are met in the least restrictive manner. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including the Emergency Department, MHAIDS CMHT, NGOs, and NZ Police. Qualifications Registered mental health professional with a current annual practising certificate. Ideal senior nurse or senior allied health designated position level. Current full New Zealand driver’s licence. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Internet resources, and e‑mail. High standard of written and spoken English. Ability to consent and undergo a full Police Vetting Check under the Vulnerable Children’s Act (2015). Commitment to equitable health outcomes for all people.
