Midwife - Base and Hawera Hospital

Midwife – New Plymouth Hospital – Permanent Te Whatu Ora Taranaki maternity service comprises a secondary maternity unit located in Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and a primary birthing unit in Hawera. The secondary unit includes a combined birthing suite and antenatal ward, a separate postnatal ward, six birthing rooms, a birthing pool, seven antenatal beds, and 16 postnatal beds. The primary unit in Hawera has one birthing room with pool and three postnatal beds. The neonatal unit has level 2A accreditation, six cots and two intensive care cots for babies from 28 weeks gestation. About the Role You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, caring for whanau through all stages of their maternity journey. Your role includes providing safe, high quality care, supporting families, and contributing to quality assurance and accreditation initiatives. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive maternity care across antenatal, birthing, postnatal, and primary units. Provide support and care to families and newborns within the neonatal unit. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement activities. Maintain up to date knowledge of best practices and accreditation standards. Qualifications Registered with the Midwifery Council or eligible for registration and hold an Annual Practicing Certificate. Minimum of one year postgraduate experience (new graduates encouraged to apply). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Capacity to work rostered shifts in all areas of the maternity service.
