Job Description
Intern Program 2026/2027 – Power Supply – Tiwai Point, New Zealand Intern Power Supply at the New Zealand Aluminium Smelter (NZAS) based near Invercargill. This 12‑week Summer Internship Program offers hands‑on experience with the chance to secure a graduate position upon completion. In this role you will work alongside experienced engineers, gain insight into how equipment, systems and processes interact, and contribute to improving how the operation runs safely and reliably. The program builds strong technical foundations and confidence at the start of your career. Program Details The internship lasts 12 weeks during the summer and is designed to give penultimate year or third‑year students real‑world exposure to power supply systems in a large industrial setting. Responsibilities Work with senior engineering teams to: Assist in the operation and maintenance of power supply equipment Analyse system performance and support reliability initiatives Contribute to safety and process improvement projects Qualifications and Eligibility • Penultimate year or students in 2nd or 3rd year studying a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Power System Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with a strong electrical/power systems focus. • Have the right to work in Australia or New Zealand (citizens, permanent residents, student or postgraduate work visa holders).
