About the Role We are looking for an experienced maintenance technician to operate and maintain mechanical systems and HVAC services at Tauranga Hospital. This is a permanent full‑time opportunity. Salary will be based on skills and experience and will fall within Steps 37 of the Group 2 pay scale. Additional allowances apply for formal on‑call duties and overtime. This role is covered by the Etū collective agreement. Responsibilities Operate, maintain and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment. Undertake basic plumbing maintenance duties and understand which plumbing tasks can or cannot be undertaken by non‑qualified tradesmen. Act as lead technician managing under‑sink drinking water units. Provide highly technical management of infrastructure systems and ancillary equipment. Identify maintenance risks on equipment. Provide 24‑hour call‑out response when on call. About you Mandatory Requirement: Applicants must hold recognised boiler and medical gas qualifications or be willing and able to obtain these within 12 months of appointment. NZ Trade Certificate or similar from a mechanical trade. Plant and equipment operation and maintenance experience including boilers, compressors, pumps, medical gas pipeline systems, and building management systems. Current drivers licence. Accurate record keeping. Intermediate level computer literacy. About the Team / Service / Location Reporting to the Site Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Facilities and Business Operations Team. Tauranga Hospital is located in the Bay of Plenty.
