About the Role This role is pivotal in embedding world‑class information management practices across one of New Zealand’s largest and most complex public sector organisations. As Manager – Information Capability you will lead the development and delivery of enterprise‑wide strategies, frameworks and roadmaps that transform how the Police manages, governs, and leverages information. Your work directly influences operational effectiveness, strategic decision‑making and public trust in the Police’s ability to manage information safely and responsibly. Key Accountabilities Lead the development and implementation of strategies, frameworks and roadmaps to raise the Police’s information management capability and maturity. Provide strategic advice and thought leadership to senior leaders on information management. Ensure information tools support new ways of working and remain aligned with changing business needs and external regulatory changes. Collaborate on all government information and data initiatives to uplift overall government capability. Ensure information management policy is relevant, current and reflects the Police business context and legislative responsibilities. Champion information and data principles and goals, working closely with other business groups to achieve alignment between information management and data management. Act as the Police point of contact for Archives New Zealand and support the Executive Sponsor role under the Information and Records Management Standard. Build and support a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety and continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to leverage technology and government information strategies to improve Police performance. What You’ll Bring Deep expertise in information and data management with a strong understanding of relevant frameworks and standards. Well‑versed in emerging technologies, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence, and able to assess their relevance. Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills. Proven ability to develop and implement strategies, frameworks and governance models. Experience leading high‑performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Capacity to influence at all levels of the organisation and translate complex concepts into actionable outcomes. Committed to a culture of learning, excellence and outcomes‑focused leadership. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., information or data management). Significant experience in a leadership role within information, knowledge or data management – ideally in the public sector.
