Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role The Economic and External Strategy team is the centre of Treasury’s economic advice function - bringing together economic policy, strategy, and international engagement. We lead advice and coordination on The Treasury and Minister of Finance’s international engagement, including with international financial institutions, APEC and the OECD, and building connections in the Pacific Economic security and resilience - identifying and responding to international risks and opportunities facing New Zealand NewZealand’s economic recovery from the Middle East crisis, economic performance and productivity (including the Māori economy), and the Government’s economic strategy The Foreign Affairs and International Development Cooperation budget While this role has a strong international focus, you’ll be part of a large team and you would be contributing across the broad work programme. You may have opportunities to travel internationally, though this is not a requirement. We also offer flexible working arrangements, including part-time options. We’re looking for Senior Analysts who bring strong analytical capability, including the ability to think critically about complex policy issues and apply appropriate frameworks to shape sound and evidence-based advice. You will have Strong analytical skills, including experience testing assumptions, applying and adapting economic and policy frameworks and drawing clear, defensible conclusions Strong organisational and project leadership skills, with the ability to drive complex work programmes A track record of working collaboratively and supporting the development of others Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across agencies and internationally The ability to deliver clear, concise, and impactful advice to senior decision-makers You must be passionate about the public service and have a drive to make a difference. In addition to a strong base in critical thinking, you will, importantly, bring your excellent communication and relationship skills, and a proven ability to manage your time and tasks.
