He Waka Tapu works to increase the health and wellbeing of Whānau and community. About the role We are looking for a proactive Health and Safety Advisor to support the development and continuous improvement of He Waka Tapu health and safety systems and practices. The role works across the organisation to promote a safe, healthy, and culturally responsive working environment that aligns with legislative requirements, Kaupapa Māori values, and organisational priorities. Key priorities of the role include Support and contribute to the implementation and ongoing improvement of organisational health and safety systems, policies and procedures. Monitor organisational compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines. Maintain health and safety registers, documentation, corrective actions, and reporting systems. Assist with the coordination and monitoring of organisational audits, inspections, and compliance activities. Incident management, risk reduction and reporting. Provide practical health and safety advice and support to managers and kaimahi, including support and guidance to identify, assess and manage workplace hazards and risks. About you Successful applicants will have: At least 5 years of experience in a health and safety, compliance, or advisory related role. Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and associated regulations. Relevant health and safety qualification Able to undertake investigations into incidents and accidents as required. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Understanding of Te Ao Māori. Understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and culturally safe practice requirements. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and organisational systems. Ability to identify issues and support practical solutions and continuous improvement activities.
