Job Description
Sterile Services / Theatre Technician (0.6 FTE) Nelson Sterile Services / Theatre Technician | Nelson Hospital | Permanent, Part time (0.6 FTE) As a Sterile Services / Theatre Technician, you will be working with sterilising and processing reusable instruments and equipment for the operating theatres and other hospital departments, as well as assisting nursing teams with patient transportation, theatre cleaning and equipment provision. About the Role Working closely with clinical teams to meet equipment needs and ensure timely availability of sterilised items. Performing decontamination, inspection, packaging, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols and infection control standards. Conducting thorough checks on all sterilised items to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for use in patient care. This is a permanent, part-time role working 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE), Monday to Friday – with a flexible rostered and rotating shift cycle. There will be on-call as required. You will have the opportunity to study towards the National Certificate in Sterilising Technology (Level 3/4), from the New Zealand Open Polytechnic; the cost of which will be met by the hospital, if not already attained. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
