Senior Contracts Engineer

Our team is responsible for planning, developing, operating, and maintaining the city’s transport system, and we are looking for a Civil Engineer who thrives on building strong, collaborative relationships with consultants, contractors, and internal partners. About the Role As an Engineer within the Transport Capital Delivery Team, you will take a leading role in delivering the Council’s Transport Capital and Renewals Work Programme. This position is highly collaborative you will work closely with professional services consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure our transport projects are delivered efficiently, to a high standard, and with strong value for money. You will be responsible for actively managing a range of professional services and physical works contracts. Your ability to foster positive working relationships, communicate clearly, and support constructive problem solving will be central to project success across the city. What You’ll Bring We are seeking someone who can bring both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset. You will have: Experience in one or more of: Traffic engineering Road construction Experience in tendering, contract management, and negotiation A proven ability to work effectively with consultants and contractors An understanding of the road construction industry Knowledge of NZ Transport Agency processes and procedures Experience with NZS 3910 Conditions of Contract Why Join Us?
