Step into a role where your skillset will help shape how Rotorua’s open spaces are used, protected, and experienced by our community. We’re looking for a skilled Lease and Open Space Advisor to provide expert guidance on the management, leasing, and policy frameworks that shape Rotorua’s parks and open spaces. In this role, you’ll lead policy development, ensure statutory compliance, oversee lease activity, and support consistent, informed decision‑making across Council. You’ll work closely with lessees, community groups, mana whenua, and internal teams, to strengthen how we manage our open spaces ensuring leasing arrangements are effectively administered, and polices are fit‑for‑purpose, and aligned with Council’s strategic direction. You’ll also contribute to Reserve Management Plan reviews, monitor legislative changes, and provide high‑quality analysis and advice on open space issues. To succeed, you’ll bring: A relevant qualification in policy, planning, recreation, property, legal studies or something similar Strong analytical and communication skills Experience working with policy or regulatory frameworks Ideally in local government Comfortable building relationships across a wide range of stakeholders Confidence working in Māori settings and an understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori will be an advantage If you’re motivated by meaningful policy work and want to help shape the future of Rotorua’s open spaces, we’d love to hear from you.
