Job Description As Technical Director – Structures , you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AECOM’s structural engineering practice while leading the delivery of some of New Zealand’s most complex and high‑profile projects. You’ll provide strategic technical leadership, set engineering standards, champion innovation and digital delivery, and mentor senior engineers to drive technical excellence across the business. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you'll deliver outstanding project outcomes while strengthening key relationships and supporting business growth. Provide technical leadership across the Structures practice, setting standards and governing quality. Lead the delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary projects, achieving right‑first‑time outcomes. Act as a senior technical reviewer and trusted advisor on major projects. Champion innovation, digital engineering, and efficient delivery methods. Mentor and develop senior engineers, building capability across the team. Build and grow strategic client relationships while driving work winning and business development. Shape technical solutions, project scopes, and winning proposals. Collaborate across New Zealand, Australia, and AECOM’s global network to deliver best‑in‑class outcomes. Qualifications We're looking for an experienced technical leader with a passion for engineering excellence and client success. The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a great fit for this role. A Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility. 20+ years' experience in structural engineering consultancy. A proven track record leading complex structural projects and multidisciplinary teams. Strong technical leadership, quality governance, and mentoring experience. Excellent commercial acumen and success building client relationships and winning work. Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
