Job Description
Mō te tūranga | About the role Combining technical transport planning with network and placemaking design skills, the role will be varied and could include any of the following: Permanent Part-time role available - enjoy the flexibility of a permanent part-time role, while maintaining the flexibility of reduced hours (24 hours per week). Based in Hamilton CBD office. Developing and monitoring of the Waikato Regional Land Transport Plan. Developing and monitoring the Waikato Regional Public Transport Plan. Transport Planning input for the development and review of growth plans, strategies, and development proposals, such as the Hamilton-Waikato Metro Spatial Plan. Developing/contributing to transport business cases for bus, rail and community transport initiatives. Contributing to procurement processes and supplier management. Reviewing national legislative and policy changes affecting local government transport planning and operations. Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders on various projects. Providing transport planning support for a range of transport programmes including our Total Mobility, Safe Transport, and National Ticketing programmes. Mō te tangata | About you You will be able to confidently provide technical input to support transport plans, policy and strategy. You will be an excellent communicator, working with internal and external stakeholders, elected members and the public. You will be flexible and able to respond to fast-changing political situations while managing expectations. You will be comfortable leading projects while supported by colleagues across the directorate and able to generate outcomes that support communities. Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in transport planning, urban planning and/or economics, transport/civil engineering, or similar. Practical experience in transport plannings preferred, however we are open to other options as well – planning in a different industry, a related role in the transport industry, or perhaps something else. Practical experience in public transport planning or operations is desirable. A clean and current driver’s licence. Mō te tīma | About the team The Transport Planning Team is one of two teams in Transport Strategy & Delivery which with the Public Transport Operations Team make up the Regional Transport Connections at Waikato Regional Council. The Regional Transport Connections directorate is responsible for delivering on the council’s transport connections strategic priority and the council’s functions under the Land Transport Management Act – because connected communities are stronger. #J-18808-Ljbffr
