Registered Nurse - Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation Unit Permanent Part Time, 40 hours per fortnight (0.5 FTE) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation (AT&R) Unit on a permanent basis. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting older adults and patients requiring rehabilitation, enabling them to regain function, independence and confidence following illness, injury or surgery. You will provide comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and evaluate care plans, and deliver evidence based interventions that support patients physical, emotional and functional wellbeing. You will also collaborate with patients, whānau and the wider interprofessional team to plan safe, supported discharges and promote self management. This role combines hands on clinical care with rehabilitation-focused nursing, requiring sound judgement, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting patients on their recovery journey. Please click here to view the position description About the Team/Service/ Location You will work within the Hospital Group at Hawkes Bay Hospital, joining a dedicated and supportive nursing team in the AT&R Unit. The team includes nurses, allied health professionals, medical staff, rehabilitation specialists and support staff who work closely together to improve patient outcomes and ensure person-centered, culturally responsive care. The team values whanaungatanga, collaboration and continuous learning. You will also work alongside Māori health services, the Professional Development Unit, and wider hospital teams who play an important role in supporting safe, high quality care for patients and whānau. You bring clinical confidence, excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to supporting patients and whānau. You will have: Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and APC Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice Strong teamwork and time management skills Confidence with patient assessment, care planning and evaluation Commitment to safe practice, documentation and quality improvement Understanding of AROC / Functional Independence Measure (FIM) assessments Experience in rehabilitation, gerontology or similar settings You bring self awareness, professionalism and a commitment to delivering equitable, culturally safe care.
